Will get some pictures scanned later, I hope, but for now just a quick note about Faith’s activities. She’s drawn the Earth, with houses all over it, revolving around the sun, and the other planets too. She knows most of the names and their primary color, and that they are too cold or too hot to live on. She says the Earth is ‘just right’

Also on a pirate kick, she’s drawn a whole pirate family ‘who are nice pirates’. They have a ship and a treasure chest. She has some idea that most pirates are mean, I think, since she specified that these are nice pirates.

Now I’m thinking of going back to all prefolds. I had gone to all fitteds except under duress because a.)Bede was being impossible to change and speed was very nice and b.)I got 4 dozen one-size fitteds for free. I gave 10 away to my friend Jennifer and 10 others to several mamas, leaving me with plenty for Abby and Bede. That was about a year and a half ago an they are falling apart now… I inherited them from a mother of twins. I’d say 4.5 years of use is pretty good!

But today I realized that Bede has gotten much more cooperative for changes in the last few weeks, so I might as well save some $$ and get CPFs. I CDed with CPFs exclusively with Faith and Abby for three years (they fell apart after that, poor things. Gleesons are rough on diapers!) I knit my own darn soakers now so I can have enough wool covers to compensate for the inevitable mess factor you get with prefolds vs fitteds. Also the idea of diaper simplicity is very appealing when you have three in diapers.

My mom said she’d make me some fitteds too, which will be awesome.

So, I’m thinking about one dozen regular 4-6-4 and one dozen toddler. Should do it for both boys, I think. I have to wash 2x a day no matter how many dipes I have because our washer is a dinky ole stackable.

In other news, my mom let on that she’s getting the folding castle for the kids for Christmas! Yay Mom! I had no way of affording it, at all. You are our Christmas hero!! <3 <3 <3

And she brought me some of these lovely Crystal Palace dpns in size 5 and 7 as my early Christmas present.

We Love You Bugga! And we’d love you whether you brought us nifty woodeny things or not!

ok, need new fitteds to fit Bede. and i’m unable to commit to any particular brand, sigh!

i like side-snap or front velcro. front snap i can’t get it adjusted right in between snap settings. i also like a one or two sized dipe.

in the running are
Mother-ease Sandy’s
Snug-To-Fit Supreme (velcro close, not the snap) i’ll probably get these, really.
Ecobaby Absorbitall

oh and i’m broke. This is sort of dreamy if-i-had-the-$$ window shopping. But when i do have some money i need to know which ones you see.

Here we have the lists of what the kids want for Christmas. I’ll be adding more to this in the next few days.

Faith:

  • Folding Wooden Castle (really for both girls)

Abby:

  • Plush Elephant. She’s sure Pop-Pop will be getting this for her, she specifically said “Pop-Pop will get me a toy elephant.” She’s a GOP kinda kid.

Bede:

  • Tall-Stacker Pegs & Pegboard Set

Gil:

  • Walker, but we don’t use the wheels so it’s safer. So I guess it’s a ’stander’.

All the kids:

  • Babe
  • Schoolhouse Rock
  • Disney’s Robin Hood
  • Disney’s The Sword in the Stone
  • The Muppet Movie

so busy with the kids i have no time for anything ever! i haven’t knit successfully in days. or showered. or anything at all without at least one child touching me.

gil and bede are tag team sleeping argh and driving me insane. hope gil gets a more normal timeframe soon.

and mom, i promise i’ll post Christmas lists tomorrow. i swear.

i’m just really whacked, the kids are taking every bit of my time lately. the kitchen is abysmal and the non-dipe laundry has piled up to critical mass. the livingroom would probably benefit from a carpet-safe rake. or a shovel.

eek. everything seems bleaker @ 3:30 AM however. perhaps tomorrow we’ll round the bend, eh?

Expecting a son soon? Might wanna read this then!

And then read this one!

Heather and Jessica are both moving in the same week. I’m in sarcastic withdrawal!

Good luck guys in yer new digs! XOXO mwah mwah.

Sorry I haven’t blogged much.

I’m knitting Christmas gifts. I’ll post pix as they are done. Making these beanies for many of the fellas.

Here’s the pattern.

off to mass soon. we have been having a bit of a rough time the past few days with all of us in various states of wellness. looks like we are all either out of the tunnel or can see the light anyway.

i have a new small thing to be thankful for: the moments of calm contentedness that occurr throughout the day. i never really oticed them before i had four children. now when they occur, these brief moments where everyone is basically content and happy, i offer a prayer of thanksgiving.

maybe that’s not such a small thing after all. huh. perhaps i can write more later, i need to get the kids ready for mass. here’s what we’re watching now, love the veggies.
