Check out the name of the toy. I think I must have it.

I did some domestic calculations today.

Time I spend each day:
… changing diapers: One hour
… laundering diapers: 30 minutes (this includes prewash and folding)
… nursing: Four hours (on average, 20 minutes every 2 hours, 24/7)
… laundering clothes: 30 minutes (again, includes all tasks)
… washing dishes: 30 minutes (includes putting them away)

Number of:
… hours in labor: 47

… diapers I’ve changed: 26,490*

I’m not sure if I feel accomplished or defeated. But no wonder I’m good with pins and a prefold, eh?

* Gilbert = 10 dipes/day x (3.5 months x 30 days) = 1050
Bede = 8 dipes/day x (23 months x 30 days) = 5520
Abby = 8 dipes/day x (43 months x 30 days) = 10320
Faith = 8 dipes/day x (40 months x 30 days) = 9600

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don’t search around and look for the “coolest” book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you. (I mean, if it has 123 pages and five sentences per page at least. Many of the books around here don’t meet those criteria.)

However, I have many difficulties in fulfilling my design.

Gil is a wastrel. He’s dozing at the breast and my milk just let down again and he can’t be bothered to swallow and is letting a substantial amount of milk just run out of the side of his mouth.

Man, what a life.

I’m not participating in the full blogburst so you won’t find me in any of the lists, but I thought this was worth mention.

We cannot forget. Six million killed.

Remembering the Wannsee Conference and the Liberation of Auschwitz

Here’s the fold I use. The key is to make the gusset like this, and to start the dipe pretty high up on the back, even with the navel.

Here’s a slideshow of me pinning a toddler pf. The newspaper fold is handy because there is a little spot to put your fingers in to guide the pins with several layers of diaper between you and the child.

I also use a bikini fold for Abby but I have never been able to get it to work on a boy without squishing his package.

I weighed him today. He’s around 18 and a half pounds. Dang. For those of you who wonder such things, he is in a regular (4-6-4) prefold from Tye Dye Dreams.

Here he is in the same pose about 2 and a half months ago.

I did it on DPNs and you can see a bit of a ladder there when it’s stretched. Woops. Abby directed me as to drawstring placement, it’s not really crooked. She’s wearing a pinned toddler prefold underneath, newspaper fold.

Lucy died today around 4:30 PM. She was much loved by my oldest daughter and will be missed greatly. Sean buried her in my parents’ yard.

Faith is ok. This is the first time she has ever experienced a death, and she seems to be holding up fairly well.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.
