Today is Sean’s 40th birthday!
Here are some of the festivities!
I love you darlin. Here’s to at least 40 more!
This is the blanket I knit for Tabitha. It’s winging its way northeast to MO right now.
I cast on the night she told me she was expecting. I dyed the yarn for the stripes, and my kids told me what colors to use and when. A few weeks later, I knit on it when I went into labor in the middle of the night. I was a little lonely but didn’t want to wake my family, so I sat in the dark and knit by the predawn light, thinking of my friend and her labor day to be.
Later that day Trixie was born, and all knitting ceased for a while. I’d pick it up and knit a bit, a row or ten here and there, and just like a pregnancy it slowly grew.
And now Tabitha is grown too, and big with child. I know this blanket isn’t perfect, but every single stitch is a thought for her and her baby, and his older brother and sister, and their loving daddy. I can’t hold the baby or hug his mama, but I’ll let the blanket be my proxy.
With much love:

Pattern: I cast on 3 stitches, knit 1, kfab, knit across, repeat until it looked big enough, then changed to knit 1, k2tog, knit across til it got back down to 3.
Yarn: Peaches and Creme, in Ecru, hand dyed by me in green, yellow, lemon, and blue.
Needles: US 9, for a nice drape but still squishy.
Not the kids. Me.
I have two teeth that are about half gone. One cracked in half about a year ago and has been a ticking time bomb and the other has had a cavity that has gradually gotten bigger and bigger.
Tonight I have had the first real searing pain from them, sitting here at the computer, out of nowhere.
They happen to be right next to each other, which will come in handy when we have the money for me to get them extracted… which might be as early as next week, but more likely mid-September, most likely the end of September.
I get to take Tylenol and be brave. This isn’t going to be a fun few weeks.
Ow.
UPDATE 9:30PM: Remember when I went to the walk-in clinic for thrush and the idiot doctor gave me a scrip for Keflex?
I took 1000mg about 5 minutes after I posted this and the pain is beginning to drain away now. I’ve got 40 500mg caps, so I can kick it in the teeth (ha, ha! the teeth! I slay me) for long enough to get to payday.
Faith had some fun today, following in Sean’s footsteps in digital image manipulation.

I’m writing it all out so I don’t get too far behind.

Gilbert has a new love: Blue’s Clues. He’s never really paid much attention to TV before, being equally interested in either Mr. Noodle’s brother, Mr. Noodle or Jim Lehrer.
He begs at the television, opening and closing his little fists, saying “Coo coos! A bow-bow! Tees! Coo coos!”
We are a Steve-only household here, and have about ten tapes of two episodes each, so we’ll be keeping him in the Blue for quite some time…
Until then, bow-bow!
