Awesome house in Wales. Tabitha and Karl, you must see this!
I’ve been depressed, off and on, since I became pregnant with Beatrice. At first I chalked it up to pregnancy and expected it to ebb away. It didn’t. Then I thought it was situational because we’re very cash poor and had a rough spring and summer. Nope. Then maybe it was dealing with my feelings about having a child who is likely autistic. Nope, not that either.
Huh.
I think I’m depressed.
Most of my days seem pretty gray. I snap at the children. All I see is the negative side to things, even when they’re hard to find.
I just feel… sad. Most of the time, like a weight on me.
It just dawned on me that I am depressed, for whatever reason, and it’s not going away so I need to do something about it. I don’t want to take SSRIs, not because I’m anti-anti-depressant, but because I have family members who report marked sexual side effects from them and I certainly don’t want that.
So what do I do?
I’m starting with omega-3 supplements, in the form of fish oil capsules. Studies have shown that they have a direct effect on serotonin levels, so hopefully this will do it. I know that I must give all the omega-3 I get to my nurslings so there’s not much left for me. This will help that.
I ordered them tonight, expect them next week sometime, and will be giving them a two-month run before considering anything else.
Happy and shaggy Bede
Gil’s soaker, in Patons Classic, Denim Marl. My usual pattern.
Blurry front shot, but he’s so happy I had to post it:
And a better shot from the back
Trixie pouts
I’ll be knitting Sean his cardigan that he’s been begging for since I learned to knit. I ordered the wool for it yesterday and I’m finishing up the soaker that’s on the size 6s I need for it. What a convoluted sentence.
Anyway, it will be a gansey-inspired cardigan, hence Seansey, in Patons Classic Wool, Dark Grey Mix.
I’m pretty excited!
We got Howl’s Moving Castle for Christmas. Abaigeal says we need a laundry-demon. I agree.
