We have an appointment for an evaluation in August to see where (or if, I suppose) the Bede falls on the autism spectrum. Finally! He’ll be seen by a psychologist highly recommended as a diagnostician and autism specialist, Dr. Diana Mobley. The really great part is she’s in Norman, about 30 miles south of here, so no overnight stays or plane flights, yay! August is the earliest available slot. Crazy.

It will be interesting to see what she thinks of my boy.

The Joy of Autism is a fantastic blog about autism acceptance.

Her son is hyperlexic like The Bede.

Gilbert got these sandals yesterday at Payless Shoe Source. They were $7, then 50% off that. Gotta love it.

He has not willingly taken them off since.

He says “A-queen shoes! Kaaaaa-choooooow!”

He holds his Lightning McQueen toy up to the shoe, to show him himself.

Ah, love.

A story in six parts.

Now:

Happy birthday sweet baby Beatrice!

ETA: her unassisted homebirth from Sean’s perspective.

Sean decided on a texture stitch for his cardigan.

It’s a 13-stitch diamond flanked by 2×2 broken rib. It’ll go up each sleeve and up the front, over the shoulders and down the back.

He’s been picking up the swatch and saying with a dreamy smile “My sweater…. it’s going to be perfect… ahhh….” I had to wrestle it away to take the picture.

The man certainly knows how to score handknits!

Progress: finished bottom ribbing, about to commence body proper.

A wee film starring Gilbert. (approx 700K)

See you soon, need an Internet rest.

Remember when I used to blog, and not just post pictures? Me too.

This won’t be one of those times.

Here’s the soaker soon to be on its way to Keri’s house.

Atop a toddler soaker in the same yarn. Dang!

I made wee gussets inside the legs so’s to help prevent those breastfed blowouts. (How can someone so small produce so much poop? It is a mystery.)

Stats: Yarn is HPY bulky merino. It is super soft, in the ‘knitted butter’ category of yarns.

Pattern is my own, but as always you can make one sorta like it from this, or this.

I used US size 4, 6 and 8 needles (that’s 3.5, 4 and 5 mm) from Clover, size 4 DPNs for the top, two size 6 circulars for the middle and one 16inch (40 cm) size 8 for the main part of the body.

Last weekend, I taught Lydia to knit.

On Sunday I spotted a feral bunny-girl in my mother’s livingroom.

Faith drew this cat picture. I really like it.

Yesterday my friend Keri had a baby. This is for her. It’s HPY bulky merino Heather gave us. That soaker is too small to fit on a 16 inch circular. Too small! Aw!

Here is a giant boy overtaking a castle.

Here is his half-completed soaker, in Patons Classic, “Forest.”

That’s all for today!
